Aftermath (Peter)

She had been told to rest, and so she did, but she couldn't fall asleep. There were too many thoughts. Too much guilt. She felt stupid and silly - so she finally got up. She messaged Peter that she would like to see him and then she found herself pulling out her Crashdown uniform.
She pulled on the uniform and looked in the mirror. She even put on the headband with bobbing alien attenas.
This was who she was. Liz Parker. She should probably just stop fooling herself.

Date: 2018-07-30 04:43 am (UTC)Peter didn't bother looking further than rank 5. He knew that some people thought Spider-Man was at least involved with the Avengers because he'd been seen around with Iron Man, and he didn't want to risk potentially seeing his name down at the bottom of the list.

Date: 2018-07-30 04:49 am (UTC)"He has an unfair advantage, not being human." Liz gave him a little squeeze. She wanted Peter to see how wonderful he was, but she wasn't sure how. The only thing she could think of doing was shifting a little on his back - trying not to throw him off too much - and whispered in his ear. "
He's got nothing on Spider-Man." Her voice held the conviction of such a belief, but as if to drive that home, she found herself taking Peter's earlobe into her mouth and gently sucking for just a moment before pulling away.

Date: 2018-07-30 03:39 pm (UTC)But she did love how sensitive his ears were and it would be a lie to say she didn't like how he responded to her touch.

Date: 2018-07-31 12:47 am (UTC)"Is it okay for me to set you down?" he asks, once they come close to the bike.

Date: 2018-07-31 12:57 am (UTC)"Are you tired?"
no subject
Date: 2018-07-31 05:47 am (UTC)His superhuman stamina definitely helped here.
Peter holds the bike upright so Liz can climb on.
"Before I was bitten by the spider, it probably would have been a problem."
It wasn't right now, though.

Liz climbed up carefully.

"I guess it was a little like going through a second accelerated puberty."
no subject
Date: 2018-07-31 04:16 pm (UTC)For some reason she flushed a little. Maybe it was because the idea of going through puberty was personal. Though the blush lingered as she spoke back.
"For the record, I would have had a big crush on you before you got bit by a spider, if we were in the same school." She fell in love with Peter Parker first and Spider-Man second.

Date: 2018-08-01 12:13 am (UTC)"Yeah, it was really confusing," he says. "It didn't really make the connection to the spider until later."
Maybe if everything'd spontaneously happened immediately, it would have occurred to him quickly. But it didn't, and so he didn't come to that conclusion, either.
"I didn't come down with a rash or anything either," he says, pedaling along. "I just had a raised red bump on my hand like a mosquito bite."

Date: 2018-08-01 12:34 am (UTC)"You know... spiders don't normally bite without a reason. So maybe there was something about you to begin with."
no subject
Date: 2018-08-01 12:54 am (UTC)"Why do they usually bite?" Peter'd done his fair share of research on spiders after he was bitten, but mostly it was him trying to determine what species might have bitten him. At the time, that seemed more important to him than the generalities.

Date: 2018-08-01 01:12 am (UTC)She paused and felt her face heat up. "We did a think on insects in 10th grade." It was a lot more eventful than last year when she had to try to get two slugs to mate and they wouldn't.

Date: 2018-08-01 04:12 am (UTC)"Was it a project or just a unit?"
It was probably weird of him to wax sentimental over a traditional high school, but here he was, wishing they were both attending a regular high school anyway.

Date: 2018-08-01 04:19 am (UTC)Liz actually laughed. It was a fond memory she had of her best friend.

Date: 2018-08-01 04:49 am (UTC)"Um. Max." It felt weird to say his name suddenly. Like a distant ghost she had left behind. "That was a year before I was shot and things, you know, happened."
Her grip around him tightened a little. This would be the second time she almost died.

Date: 2018-08-01 04:58 am (UTC)"Did he seem pretty normal to you then?" he asks, an attempt to divert the topic away from the sensitive subject of Liz almost dying.

Date: 2018-08-01 05:02 am (UTC)She didn't want to hinder his ability to pedal, but for a brief moment she leaned in, just to take Peter in. She pressed her cheek to his back, closed her eyes, and took a breath, before sitting back up.
"...It feels almost the same, you know." She hadn't told Peter yet because it was something she had to do to get better, but now she thought she could tell him. "When Kashaw heals me."
no subject
Date: 2018-08-01 05:41 am (UTC)"How does it make you feel?"
no subject
Date: 2018-08-01 05:47 am (UTC)"When I first got here, I accidentally came across a man trying to open a portal or something in the pool. He startled me and I twisted my ankle. He healed me and... I ran off into the desert at night, crying. Kitty came and found me."
She wasn't sure if that really answered Peter's question, but it was probably a start.
"At first I thought it was because I missed Max, but I don't think it is. I think - I think it reminds me how I don't have control over things. And that I'm weak..." The last sentence came out very quiet as if a shameful admission.

Date: 2018-08-01 06:01 am (UTC)And even that was tough.

Date: 2018-08-01 12:07 pm (UTC)"You're really wise, you know that?"
no subject
Date: 2018-08-01 09:47 pm (UTC)"You haven't been able to talk to anybody about it until you go here," he says. "Because of the whole secrecy thing."
Kinda like him not being able to talk to anyone because he was Spider-Man.
