Thor, the date-whisperer

Maria was feeling under the weather and so could not help with Liz's current dilemma. When she had left her room to go to the boutique for a new dress, she was thankful to have run into Thor. When she explained she had a date - a more romantic one than usual - and she felt like she had literally nothing to wear, Thor had said he would help her be date-ready in no time.

Liz's big problem was that she felt like Peter had seen all of her wardrobe at least five times and she wanted to 'wow' him. It might have been silly - they had been dating for almost a year now - but she still did.

She dumped the various new dresses from the boutique than had been in her size onto the bed. "Okay... one of these has to look nice, right?"

Liz was pretty sure she could be annoying sometimes, but most people were like that. His compliment warmed her smile, though.

"I think you have a good heart too." It was hard to miss that Thor was always trying to be happy and helpful. "For the record, I think you make a good brother." Even if Liz had no idea what it was like to be a sibling at all.

Thor smiles at the compliment. The second braid is done, and now it's time to braid the two of them together into one.

"I am, sometimes," he says. "But other times, I was so preoccupied with myself that I couldn't didn't notice my brother's problems at all."

Now, in hindsight, it should have been obvious.

"We fight all the time now, and still our relationship is much improved than it has been over the past ten years."

"Fighting's normal, right? I mean, for siblings." She knew Max and Isabel fought often, but that they still cared a lot for each other as well.

"Probably," Thor says with a smile. "Sometimes the fighting is far more serious, though. I'd rather us not fight at all. He's all the family I have left."

And not even that in his own reality.

She gave a slight nod - she didn't want to mess up what Thor was doing. "I think sometimes places like this, where it's closed in and there's not a whole lot to do, it can cause people to be a little more grumpy... Most of us are used to being distracted with our lives most of the time."

"What about you?" he asks, finishing up the end of the braid. "You have something to be grumpy about?"

She felt him finish as she considered the question. "I don't think I'm grumpy... I think for me being somewhere like this, um, makes me over think things more than I might back home." Maybe it could lead to grumpiness, but it often led to crying.

"That makes sense," Thor says. "Sometimes you just need space. The most you can get here is going out in the wilderness and that's not something everyone can do."

Plus, people tended to worry if you went off for too long. Thor included.

"Do you have a hair tie?" Thor asks. He probably should have asked this from the beginning.

Being a girl of long hair, she just so happened to have one on her wrist. She often had one there if it wasn't in her hair just in case she needed to put it up for whatever reason.

"I went camping for a week. It helped a little, but with the cold weather coming it's not the safest... Not to mention a few times I've been out the wildlife has sort of made it hard for me." She smiled a little because she knew it wasn't some strange coordinated attach, but rather bad luck.

Thor ties the hairtie around the tail end of her braid. Two elaborate braids stretch out from either side of Liz's head to join as one. Thor quite likes the way it looks on her. Someday, he'll have to practice something more elaborate.

"How cold does it get out here? Is it cold enough for snow?"

[st_hotflashes]

"It doesn't get that cold. Usually a light jacket is fine. I haven't seen it snow here, but, I mean, it's a magic place, right? So it's possible." She remembered when it started to snow in Roswell. To this day she's not sure how or why it did that.

"Are you hoping for some?"

[st_ormbreaker]

"I want my brother to help me make some," he says. "I control rain and he has ice magic. In tandem, I'm pretty sure we can make snow together. I think it would be nice if there's not snow here normally."

[st_hotflashes]

She turned to face Thor, smiling. "I think that'd be really nice. Even if it was just for a few hours. Snow is.. really pretty."

For a moment she thought of Brad - maybe she should warn him in case it triggered something. Then again, it would probably be different here, right?

"I like snow, too. It never snowed on Asgard. I always had to go somewhere else to see it."

[st_hotflashes]

"I've only ever seen it snow a few times and the snow's never stuck, so it might be nice to see it for longer. There used to be a woman here, a gnome. Pike. She made it snow once and I had my first snowball fight. It was nice."

[st_ormbreaker]

"I think I saw her around. She was one of the little ones, right? I did not know she could do snow magic."

[st_hotflashes]

She nodded. "I don't really know how her magic worked, but it was a lot of fun." Liz missed Pike - she was really nice. "Do you think Loki will help you make snow sometime this winter?"

[st_ormbreaker]

"Depends on if I can get him in the mood for it," Thor says. With some poking and prodding, it was definitely possible. Maybe. If Loki was in the right mood for it.

"Maybe I get help a little?" Though she didn't really know if Loki cared enough about her to do something like that.

[st_ormbreaker]

"What would you do?" There's no challenge in Thor's tone, just genuine curiosity.

That was a good question. She paused to think about it. "I think... maybe making it a challenge might work? Or... maybe if I tell him I'd like to see how the environment acts to something that's not normal to it. Like an experiment?"

[st_ormbreaker]

"If you're going to try and get Loki to do something, you have to make it his idea," he says. "You're never going to be able to convince him of anything if you ask."

Well, maybe not never, but... close enough.

She had to think like Michael for a moment. She tilted her head a little. "Well... maybe if you convince him it would be a prank. Like maybe... you didn't want it to happen because it might inconvenient people?"

[st_ormbreaker]

"I'm probably the wrong person to ask," Thor says, clearly amused. "I've only managed to trick Loki twice, and not once since then." Granted, they happened in quick succession: when he manipulated Loki into coming to Asgard and again when he tapped Loki's back with the obedience disc. But Loki had not been easily tricked ever since.

"Well, if it were me, I might just ask him in a moment when he seemed to be in a good mood." Liz had faith that deep down Loki liked doing nice things once in a while, just the credit of it made him feel uncomfortable.

"Or you could get someone you think he likes the most to ask."
